La Parilla Loca is a beloved late-night hotspot known for its outstanding Mexican cuisine, where the super burrito stands out as a fan favorite—huge, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. Customers rave about the handmade tortillas and expertly seasoned meats, with both tacos and burritos receiving high praise for their fresh, authentic flavors. The horchata, with the option to add ice, also wins hearts as a refreshing drink choice. Though the popular pickled red onions with habanero are no longer available, the restaurant’s salsas continue to impress. Guests appreciate the convenience of paying via Venmo or cash, and the food truck’s ample parking adds to the ease of the experience.
La Parilla Loca was founded by Mariana Aguirre in August 2022. Starting with handmade corn tortilla tacos on the corner of San Leandro and 98th Avenue in Oakland, Mariana eventually moved operations into a food trailer to fully legalize her business, securing all necessary permits and licenses. To further grow her business, she ordered a custom food truck from Gomez Repairs for $151K, with $99K already paid. She sought a $55K loan from Feed the Hunger Fund to cover the balance, purchase a new generator, and personalize the truck’s exterior. By 2023, her sales had soared to $300K, marking a significant success.
