Anna’s Organic Farms is one of two organic farms in Chowchilla, California surrounded by almond orchards. In 2015 they started the business with five acres, Anna Maria Villanueva and her family have expanded to include 60+ more acres. Anna’s long-term goals focus on the farm’s sustainability. She would like the farm to remain in the family for generations.
Anna’s father Manuel Villanueva, originally from Mexico, has established himself as a dedicated small-scale farmer in Madera County. Operating a 70-acre farm specializing in organic vegetables that are primarily sold in the central coast region. Manuel has been farming since he was 12 years old and farming organically for 12 years.
This is a truly family-run business – Manual, father, is the principal grower, Luis, brother, takes care of sales, Anna is in charge of the business & organic compliance, and their mother takes care of quality control and operations.
With the farm’s access to irrigation water in addition to well water, the climate in the Valley and lower rents give them an advantage. They are able to grow anything the climate would allow.
