Rob Barreca, owner of Farm Link Hawaii, thought it was unbelievable that every time he delivered to restaurants in town from his farm Cultured Hawaii in Waialua, he’d see neighboring farmers doing the exact same thing. “We just drove the same 30 miles, we sat in traffic for 45 minutes, and we waited 10 minutes for the chef to come and receive the product … we’re all doing the same thing! Why can’t we somehow team up?” he reflected. This reflection along with a lot of hard work led to what we now know as Farm Link Hawaii. Farm Link Hawaii partnered with Feed The Hunger Fund to became Oʻahuʻs lifeline for fresh food during the pandemic and now they continue to find ways to make local food more accessible to residents with their online ordering platform and home and office delivery.
